Some of the most commonly prescribed drugs worldwide may cause a common form of renal damage called pre-renal acute kidney injury (pre-renal AKI). AKI is a very serious syndrome that can be life threatening and expensive to treat.
AKIPREV is a project designed to develop a computerized (prognostic) system capable of stratifying patients pre-emptively according to their individual risk of suffering pre-renal AKI when they are to be treated with these single drugs or drug combinations. This project is being developed by an international multidisciplinary consortium.
This project starts by systematically mapping of the body’s hemodynamic regulatory network, for which a specific initiative has been launched.
